Fillmore Slim's Vault
Full interviews and rare footage from the San Francisco bluesman and American Pimp voice. Members only.
Fillmore Slim was born in Louisiana in 1934 and came west in 1955, first to Los Angeles, then up to San Francisco. He took his name off the Fillmore Street sign outside a pool hall, worked the clubs of the Fillmore District, and opened for B.B. King and Dinah Washington.
In 1999 the Hughes brothers' American Pimp put him in front of a whole new crowd. Music turned out to be the longer career: Born to Sing the Blues came out in 1987, and the West Coast Blues Hall of Fame inducted him in 2008.
This is his vault on Hood Box Office. The long sit-downs, the footage that never made YouTube, and new drops as they come in.
